CYBERPUNK 2077 Sales Get a 600% Boost After the Next-Gen Update
Cyberpunk 2077 sold 14 million copies during its initial launch month, which is still surprising considering it had one of the worst rollouts for a AAA title in the history of video games. If one were to assume that CD Projekt Red had to have rung every last bit of buying appeal out of that game after their botched release though, they’d be assuming wrong.
CDPR’s most recent earnings report revealed quite staggering figures for the game, which has seen a 600% uptick in sales since the game’s free next-gen update surfaced in early spring. As you’ll see in the chart below, PC sales were previously driving the game’s success, but were eclipsed by PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game collectively not too long ago.

This makes perfect sense when you consider the update mostly benefitted the consoles. Such a welcome sight for folks like me who enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 and would like to see more people experience the game as it was intended to be experienced– without massive game-breaking hiccups. If you haven’t doubled back to this game yet and are looking for something to clear off your backlog during the summer games drought, look no further…
