Leaked gameplay and details surfaced on Reddit revealing hack and slash style combat, complete with parrying, countering and some fast-paced dodging. The playtester responsible for the gameplay gave a lot of other useful information, but first, have a look at what folks have been talking about:

Keep in mind this is coming from what’s likely an early build of the game, so it might look a little ugly. But if you’ve played previous Dragon Age titles, you’ll notice that this is a deviation from the sword and shield combat we’ve previously seen in the franchise. And if you take a gander at some of the more complete looking still images, it appears this may be Bioware’s most graphically ambitious game yet.

Additional tidbits we learned of include everything from the game having improved animations to them reimplementing a jump button just like in Inquisition. It doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing this game in 2023, but if things keep moving in the direction they are, it seems this game will be well worth the wait.

Sons of the Forest Will Be An Early Access Release https://newmeta.gg/2023/02/05/sons-of-the-forest-launch-date-changed-to-an-early-access-release/ https://newmeta.gg/2023/02/05/sons-of-the-forest-launch-date-changed-to-an-early-access-release/#respond Sun, 05 Feb 2023 21:30:38 +0000 https://newmeta.gg/?p=3489 Endnight games has decided to switch up their planned release date of February 23 for Sons of the Forest. Instead, the game will be entering an “early access” phase, allowing the developers to continue tweaking the game, but also giving players access during that period. The reasoning for the studio’s decision, as posted on Steam, was that they “didn’t want to delay (the game) again”, which makes perfect since considering they’re already 2 delays deep thus far.

So while this technically is a delay, the game being playable softens the blow a little bit. Endnight will likely take this time to polish the game up for a full PC release, as well as prepare the game for console release in the future. So if you’ve been waiting on this Sons of the Forest, no need to panic– you’ll still be chopping trees on February 23 just as planned.

NVIDIA’s Big Leak Has Been Scarily Accurate https://newmeta.gg/2022/06/02/nvidias-big-leak-has-been-scarily-accurate/ https://newmeta.gg/2022/06/02/nvidias-big-leak-has-been-scarily-accurate/#respond Thu, 02 Jun 2022 15:43:09 +0000 https://newmeta.gg/?p=3467 When a gigantic list of games set to go up on Nvidia’s cloud-gaming service surfaced on message boards last September, I was among the many others who were quick to call it cap. Since the leak, however, games from that list like Kingdom Hearts 4, Street Fighter 6 and Crysis 4 to name a few, have been proven to actually exist, which has all but validated the speculation around the giant compilation of titles.

The PlayStation games shown on the list, indicating some are heading to PC

As we go into what we call “E3 season” (yea, we know E3 is cancelled but you get it) we’re going to be keeping a close eye on this list and what gets unveiled because if this trend continues, we could possibly be getting a Tekken 8, Dragon’s Dogma 2 or even Titanfall 3 announcement in the very near future. Fingers crossed this comes to fruition

CYBERPUNK 2077 Sales Get a 600% Boost After the Next-Gen Update https://newmeta.gg/2022/06/02/cyberpunk-2077-sales-get-a-600-boost-after-the-next-gen-update/ https://newmeta.gg/2022/06/02/cyberpunk-2077-sales-get-a-600-boost-after-the-next-gen-update/#respond Thu, 02 Jun 2022 03:48:07 +0000 https://newmeta.gg/?p=3461 Cyberpunk 2077 sold 14 million copies during its initial launch month, which is still surprising considering it had one of the worst rollouts for a AAA title in the history of video games. If one were to assume that CD Projekt Red had to have rung every last bit of buying appeal out of that game after their botched release though, they’d be assuming wrong.

CDPR’s most recent earnings report revealed quite staggering figures for the game, which has seen a 600% uptick in sales since the game’s free next-gen update surfaced in early spring. As you’ll see in the chart below, PC sales were previously driving the game’s success, but were eclipsed by PlayStation and Xbox versions of the game collectively not too long ago.

This makes perfect sense when you consider the update mostly benefitted the consoles. Such a welcome sight for folks like me who enjoyed Cyberpunk 2077 and would like to see more people experience the game as it was intended to be experienced– without massive game-breaking hiccups. If you haven’t doubled back to this game yet and are looking for something to clear off your backlog during the summer games drought, look no further…

Thanks, VG247

New Co-Op Shooter ALIENS: FIRETEAM Could Be Lit https://newmeta.gg/2021/03/02/new-co-op-shooter-aliens-fireteam-could-be-lit/ https://newmeta.gg/2021/03/02/new-co-op-shooter-aliens-fireteam-could-be-lit/#respond Tue, 02 Mar 2021 17:12:31 +0000 https://newmeta.gg/?p=3412 Now hear me out– I know games themed around the Alien franchise have typically turned out to be trash (sup Colonial Marines), so taking this unveiling with a grain of salt is advised. If you look at the trailer for Aliens: Fireteam, however, it’s hard not to have high hopes that we’re in for a fun time with this installment. For starters, it’s a third-person shooter, which I’d argue is the better perspective for shooter games, especially in casual gaming settings. From a gameplay standpoint, it appears it’ll fill the void that the Left 4 Dead franchise vacated– horde-style co-op shooting with many jump scares. Lastly, the game looks visually-stunning, as if it truly utilizes the of next-gen hardware. A welcome sight in a year that seems to be slow on next-gen catered titles, thus far.

The trailer above is just a look at some of the alpha footage, and that’s certainly gotten our attention here at New Meta. Aliens: Fireteam is set to release on Playstation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and Steam sometime in Summer 2021. We’ll be keeping an eye out for this game as we approach its release in the coming months.

March Releases: Big Month for Switch & PC Owners https://newmeta.gg/2021/03/01/march-game-releases-big-month-for-switch-and-pc-owners/ https://newmeta.gg/2021/03/01/march-game-releases-big-month-for-switch-and-pc-owners/#respond Mon, 01 Mar 2021 18:06:57 +0000 https://newmeta.gg/?p=3401 For the people of the world who have been fortunate enough to snag a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X, you’re probably hoping for a new game that was built from the ground up to utilize your powerful next-gen console. Unfortunately, you’ll have to look further than the month of March for such titles, as the game releases this month are more remakes, ports, next-gen upgrades, and a truck-ton of Nintendo Switch titles. Monster Hunter fans are sure to get a kick out of the latest installment in the series, Monster Hunter Rise. It’s also pretty cool to see Apex Legends finally making its way to the Switch, though it will be interesting to see how well it runs on the handheld in comparison to the other, more powerful platforms on the market.

One cool thing to look forward to for PC gamers is the release of 6 different Kingdom Hearts titles on March 30. This includes Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix, and Kingdom Hearts 3. Yeah, I know– very confusing. I personally still don’t understand the difference between the plethora of Kingdom Hearts titles but we should all be happy for the KH fandom that solely sticks to PC gaming.
